A Special Tribute to Willie Bush
Sometime during the day there will be a special tribute to the late, great Willie Bush.
Willie was one of those musicians who made everything involving music look effortless. From his upright piano at the age of six..
to the old Fender Rhodes…clavinet..Leslie..synthesizer..Hammond B-3..Yamaha..Alesis..banjo…he had the music in his blood to entertain.
Willie joined his first band in the 7th grade and by the time he was 13 yrs. old he was playing in clubs around the Roanoke Valley
earning his first musical dollar…..by the age of 17 he was traveling to Europe and playing up and down the East coast.
Willie saw pop culture from the bandstand in the 60’s..70’s..80’s..90’s..and on into the new century……self taught..disciplined
and one of the most respected keyboard players of the area..of our time.
Willie did not forget to give back….he played for our troops..he would volunteer at nursing homes…played at churches..weddings..funerals..
played for friends when asked…and who could forget the Christmas tradition of carols.
In his last interview Willie said “Ego used to be involved when I played, but I realized that all that really mattered was that
people enjoyed the music. I want people to be able to get into it and party with it and as long as they are having a good time..I am happy.”
